I have never heard even one case that fish has all signs mentioned in this tread and was not male. I believe it is best to speck with prove and caution as this might confuse others especially people who started this hobby. _________________ I Hope helped by sharing, Alex.

I too have seen a few females with tubercles. They are always older females. The white bumps are functional, not for show. They help the male get some traction when he pushes the female's belly during spawning.

Couple of exception among hundreds is not important, still majority will rule. Signs that mentioned above probably coves 98% of GF males therefore I and lots of others go for it. You can do whatever you wish.
Also since this is the method to determine which is male and which is female, how do you know that female have this signs, unless you see the fish that lay eggs and have this signs. Anyway I have never heard of. Considering amount of mutation done on GF, I would not surprise to see bi-sexual and etc with GF.
Still go with majority not exceptions. _________________ I Hope helped by sharing, Alex.

So, it's like some women like to push instead of being pushed ?

Exception is good enough. As said when we see breeding stars we cannot said it is Definitely a male, probably only 98%. That is the point. _________________ LauLanChu

Hi, like to update on the fish having white coating on body. I have added a small internal filter with 5w UV (switched on for 6hrs per day), 2 weeks ago. Notice it seems to have corrected the codition of the fish with white coating. Its certainly more active and no more white coating.
Generally, I do see an improvment in water clarity, more "shinny" in a way. Fishes seems to be more active too. |
