Hi Guys and Gals,
The two bloodlines I've heard of are the Hamamatsu and the Matsuyama bloodlines. Do you know any other or these are the only two?
I've got 6 Hamamatsu ranchus from the Naitoh line and 2 others of which I don't know from which breeder. I also have only 2 Matsuyama ranchus from Thailand (Thai Ranchu Centre), supposed to be offsprings of a Kawai/Kashino cross. I'm hoping the latters will spawn this year. _________________ Goldfish: A living work of art! |

i have kept japanese ranchu in and out for over passed 10 years.
One thing that i realised is that what we learned from websites, commericals and among hobbyists can be very different from the actual 'Land of the raising Sun'.
Thailand plays an important role in promoting different breeders from Japan. However, there are many other good and experience breeders in Japan that is unknown outside Japan.
What i'm trying to say is that in Japan there are a lot of acceptance and respect to different ways of appreciating ranchu, it is sad that outside Japan, many are conform to one or two ways. And new hobbyists would usually get confused with limited information about japanese ranchu appreciation. _________________

I think to really understand Jap ranchu has to pay Japan a visit, and go around farms to farms and talk to the breeders and understand them (sometimes this could also post a problem as some only conversant in Jap language and this also subject to misinterpreatation. Moreover, they may not be fully open out to outsiders). So what we hear and what we learnt outside Jap could be a single dimension or misinterpreted point of view. So learn with an open mind especially from hear say and through media. _________________ LauLanChu

this is me in iijima farm
iijima fish
There are many good topview breeders in Hamamatsu area like Suzuki san, Yatake san, Nobu ito san , Naitoh san, Kageyama san and some in Shizuoka area near hamamatsu like Iijima san and Kawai san.
So hamamatsu is not a bloodline but an area that have many good topview breeders.
